MANILA, Philippines – A panel of prosecutors on the Division of Justice (DOJ) has dismissed the homicide criticism filed in opposition to 17 law enforcement officials over the demise of labor chief Emmanuel “Manny” Asuncion.

Asuncion was among the many 9 activists killed through the March 7, 2021’s simultaneous police-military operations in Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal provinces — now often called “Bloody Sunday.”

“We lament the demise of Emmanuel Asuncion. Nevertheless, complainant [victim’s wife Liezel] and the proof she submitted did not discharge the duty to show the existence of against the law and establish the perpetrators thereof,” learn the decision of the panel of prosecutors.

“Within the absence of proof, there may very well be no possible trigger to cost the respondents,” the decision additional acknowledged.

  • Cpl. Bryan Sanchez
  • Cpl. Ericson Lucido
  • Pat. Jayson Maala
  • Pat. Juan Plite
  • Pat. Jonathan Tatel
  • Pat. Prince Benjamin Torres
  • Pat.  Jaime Turingan
  • Pat. Lopera Rey PJ Dacara

In keeping with the panel of prosecutors, the data of the case can be returned to the Nationwide Bureau of Investigation, which is able to then conduct an additional investigation to find out the identities of the assailants.
